BRYAN WRIGHT
Syncopated Musings: Classic Piano Rags and Ragtime Waltzes
Rivermont BSW-2204

Pianist Bryan Wright pays tribute to several "classic" ragtime composers with a refreshing program that mixes delightful rarities with well-loved favorites. From the excitement of May Aufderheide's acrobatic "The Thriller!" to the haunting and mysterious "Smiles and Kisses" by Harry Jentes to the sweeping lyricism of Joseph Lamb's "Ragtime Nightingale," reviewer Jack Rummel writes that Wright's performances on this disc "capture a warmth that is often missing in other ragtime recordings."

A native of Lynchburg, Virginia, Wright has performed ragtime from Lyon, France to Tokyo, Japan and has been a featured performer at numerous ragtime and early jazz festivals in the United States including the JVC Jazz Festival in New York City and the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri.

The CD features an accompanying eight-page booklet with reproductions of original sheet music covers and Wright's commentary on each of the selections, including biographical sketches of the composers. 64 minutes.
