Pianist Bryan Wright performs and annotates an exciting and unusual program of piano rags, novelties, tangos, and more. From the stately elegance of classic piano rags by Scott Joplin, James Scott, and Joseph Lamb, to thrilling showpieces by Jean Paques and Frank Banta, to impressionistic mood pieces by Bix Beiderbecke and Eastwood Lane, to contemporary classics by composers like David Thomas Roberts and Martin Spitznagel, Breakin' Notes offers a pleasingly-programmed tour of 20th-century syncopated piano music. The accompanying 24-page full-color booklet offers detailed notes for each of the selections. In recent years, Wright has been a featured pianist at the JVC Jazz Festival in New York City and other jazz and ragtime festivals across the United States, including regular appearances at the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival. 65 minutes.

NOTE: This recording is available both as standard audio CD and also as a limited edition 2-LP vinyl record set. The audiophile-grade 180-gram vinyl records were mastered and pressed in the Netherlands and feature DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) for superb audio fidelity. Each LP set contains a digital download card that entitles the buyer to a complimentary download of the entire album for playback on a computer, portable MP3 player (including iPod), or for burning to CD to play in a home stereo. Even if you don't own a turntable, you may still want to consider the vinyl edition for its handsome large-format graphics while you enjoy the music via digital download. In addition to standard black vinyl, a limited run of 100 copies were pressed in rich royal blue vinyl (only a few are left!).
