ALEX MENDHAM AND HIS ORCHESTRA
Jazznocracy
Rivermont BSW-2235

Alex Mendham and His Orchestra's second CD features 17 hot and sweet dance band selections of the 1920s and 1930s exquisitely played from original arrangements. Following in the footsteps of Carroll Gibbons and the Savoy Hotel Orpheans, the Mendham Orchestra is currently the resident orchestra at London's prestigious Savoy Hotel. Masters at evoking the sounds of the art deco era, the musicians play with youthful exuberance and superb musicianship to channel the sounds of Coon-Sanders Original Nighthawks one moment and Jimmie Lunceford the next. Add to that their stunning close-harmony Dunlop Sisters and crooning vocalists and you have a unique combination that is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after dance bands in all of Europe. Recorded 2015. 56 minutes.
